The short afterword reveals the role of Paul Gottfried (b. 1941) in the formation of Paleoconservatism (Gottfried is also considered to be the author of this term) as an alternative to aggressive Neoconservatism. Paleoconservatives somewhat paradoxically couple ideological elements of extreme liberalism with religious ultra-conservatism. Personal Gottfried’s regrets regarding the present-day state of Paleoconservatism are supplemented in the afterword by a short analysis of its history and its place within the spectrum of the US political ideology. The afterword also touches upon the proper attitude of Russian Conservatives to American Paleoconservatism that is obviously sympathetic with certain aspects of Russian foreign policy, but ambiguous in assessing the past.
Краткое послесловие раскрывает роль Пола Готфрида (род. 1941) в формировании палеоконсерватизма (его принято считать также автором самого этого термина) как альтернативы агрессивному неоконсерватизму, парадоксальным образом сопрягающей идеологические компоненты крайнего либерализма и религиозного ультраконсерватизма, и дополняет персональные сожаления Готфрида по поводу нынешнего прискорбного положения палеоконсерватизма кратким анализом его истории и его места в спектре политической идеологии США. Также затрагивается вопрос о том, как российским консерваторам следует относиться к палеоконсерватизму, демонстрирующему симпатии к определенным аспектам современной российской внешней политики, но весьма неоднозначному в его оценке прошлого. |
